| Set | Ask students their opinion about some news story. For example; should the US be spending so much on coordinating NASA missions with Mir? |

Direct students to log onto interent & proceed to www.cagle.com & select editorial cartoons contents page from the left hand navigation column then select editorial cartoons:page 1 from the contents page. Proceed through cartoons pages. Ask students to scan the cartoons and choose what they feel is the most interesting point of view shown. Distribute handout and review the questions. |

Students will answer the questionaire about the cartoon selected. |
| Closure | Direct discussion. | Select students to present their interpretation of the cartoonists' point of view. Class will all look at the same cartoon as it is presented. |
| Homework: | Repeat the exercise with an editorial cartoon from the paper. Attatch the cartoon to the questionaire. |

| Extension: | Using the web pages, locate three editorial cartoons on the same subject. Compare and contrast the point of views presented. Present your own perspective as well. |
